For Shanda, gardening has been a new experience that has allowed her to connect with her neighbors and family. Prior to setting up her beds with Growing Gardens, Shanda didn’t have much experience growing her own food. But now, she’s been working with her neighbors, helping them with their own gardens and vegetable pots as well as sharing any extras that she grows.
Health and nutrition has also become more a part of Shanda’s life as a result of gardening. She really enjoys the therapeutic aspect of gardening and has used it to spend time with her daughter. She uses the food she grows to cook, and has learned that she prefers the taste of fresh vegetables at the height of their season. |
